Central American Fund for Human Development

Central America

The civil war in El Salvador and the US involvement in the 1980s, including the Iran Contra affrair, was the reason for the Interfaith Network's genesis.  Today, the Central American Fund for Human Development, the 401 (c) 3 arm of the Network raises over $100,000 a year  for poor women and children in Central America.

Now, as we come to the end of the "aughts" , Central America is a more hopeful place than it was then, despite the recent coup in Honduras.

Dan is currently reading "Open Veins of Latin America" and recommends it.  He says, "It is an excellent history of the European and North American influence in Latin America and how for centuries Latin America has been drained of resources for the gain of the capitalist nations of Europe and of course by the U.S. Good historical reference."
