Hiroshima and Nagasaki Remembrance Vigil
Friday, August 6, Join us for a special remembrance of those who died on August 6 and 9, 1945 when the U.S. became the only country to ever use a nuclear bomb as a weapon of war, killing 200,000 Japanese civilians and helping bring and end to World War II. We live in the immense and growing shadow of nuclear annihilation although President Obama and premier Medvedev earlier this year agreed to reductions in their nuclear arsenals and President Obama has taken tentative steps to move away from first use and the development of new weapons systems. Join us at 5:00 p.m. at Memorial Park on the corner of 38 and First and walk with us to the lawn outside Faraday Hall for poetry readings and more.
